You can buy a stabilizer product called Technisoil for about $55 for a 5 gallon jug and apply that to the DG after it is already down. It makes the surface stick together, harder and prevents erosion. Also, did you hit the DG with a plate compacter after you put it down? If not, rent one and try that first.
